Corrections Policy
We correct problems with how a story is presented here. We cannot correct the reporting itself — that belongs to the publisher.
What we can fix
- Wrong section. A story filed under Economy that is plainly Sports.
- Bad grouping. Two unrelated events merged into one story, or one event split apart.
- Wrong attribution. A headline credited to the wrong publisher.
- Broken or misdirected links.
- Wrong timestamps. A story showing an implausible publication time.
- Awkward or misleading topic labels in Trending.
- Mangled text. Encoding damage or leftover markup in a headline or summary.
What we cannot fix
If a publisher's article contains a factual error, the correction has to come from that publisher. We reproduce their headline as written; changing it here would misrepresent what they published. Contact the publisher directly, and once they issue a correction their feed will carry it and this site will follow.
How to report
Use the contact page and include the link to the PageNews page where you saw the problem, the headline in question, and what is wrong. A link is far more useful than a description.
What happens next
Reports are read by a person. Where the cause is a single bad record we correct it directly. Where a report reveals a systematic fault — a classification rule misfiring across many stories, for instance — we fix the rule, which takes longer but prevents recurrence. We do not currently publish a log of individual corrections; given that we host no reporting of our own, there is little for such a log to record.
